The Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program provides funding for projects to protect California communities most vulnerable to the impacts of extreme heat. The Program funds two types of projects:
Early Infrastructure Projects fund heat-related infrastructure planning and a demonstration project that tests proposed approaches. Awards range from $750,000 to $1.2 million.
Advanced Infrastructure Projects fund the implementation of heat-related infrastructure projects that have been identified through prior planning efforts and determined to be feasible. Awards range from $3 million to $4.5 million.
Applications must be made by a Lead Applicant and at least one Co-Applicant.

Pre-Application Form has two submission windows. Window 1 is open now until July 21, 2026. All Technical Assistance requests must be made in Window 1. Window 2 closes on August 11, 2026.
Full applications are due on October 13, 2026. Only applicants who have submitted a pre-application form are able to submit a full application.
